Waterwheel quilt shop still spinning - Bennington Banner(quilting patterns)
SOUTH LONDONDERRY — It’s been just over a year since the Waterwheel House Quilt Shop first opened and the business continues to thrive. This year, the amount of business the shop has gotten from the towns of Londonderry and Weston has increased, according to the owner of the shop, and former art teacher, Shelley Sas. Although almost all of the quilts on display at the store are for sale, Sas said many of them are on exhibit to showcase what can be done with the fabrics and patterns that they carry in the store. In addition, Sas said that the shop also takes in other people’s quilts to quilt — something she said has become a large part of their business. Though that is a part of the businees, Sas said that the shop does not make quilts on a commission basis or make repairs. Sas said she was also moving toward using more contemporary designers and she knew that if she were to open a shop would carry both art quilting supplies and contemporary fabrics.
