Stitching it all together-Historical Society’s 16th annual Quilt Show begins (Mid-Iowa News)- quilting patterns
The Boone County Historical Society’s 16th annual Quilt Show opened Thursday with about 150 quilts on display spanning nearly a century, including antique and new bed-sized quilts, table runners, wall hangings, quilted clothing as well as animals and pillows, which were mixed among the artifacts on display. The ground level of the center features quilts from various contributors, but mainly from the 2008 featured quilter, Judy Walters, of Boone. Walters’ first appliquéd quilt, on display in the entrance of the quilt show, took her two months to complete. Walters said the Boone County Historical Society’s Quilt Show has something extra to offer that makes its show unique. Walters helped the Historical Center Quilters to make the “Presidential Wreath” quilt that is being raffled at this year’s show. Dora Hansen, of Boone, who has helped with the quilt show for the last five years, said she does most of her quilting with the RSVP Quilters at the Boone County Courthouse.
