SPACE SHOTS: Quilting keeps local artist in stitches - Fall River Herald News- Topic: quilting patterns

Ruth Bourns holds one of her quilts in in her Westport studio. Ruth Bourns’ Crib Quilts were born out of a love for the quilts she used to cover up her own three babies in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Standing in what once functioned as a guest house and perhaps even migrant worker’s quarters behind her Drift Road farm house, Bourns’ studio is a well-crafted space for her quilts. Bourns uses only quality fabrics to produce her quilts, and other accessories like belts, jewelry pouches and eye pillows. For 40 years, Bourns used her trusted Featherweight, until buying a new machine, a Pfaff Tiptronic 2040 to add to her studio. Bourns’ quilts and accessories are available in her studio, open by appointment; at Gallery 4, 3848 Main Road, Tiverton; Navio Artisans Collective, 65 William St.
