Her friend, Doris Kidd, also of Racine, suggested she make a quilt from the baby clothes and brought her to the museum, 5500 First Ave. Nancy Mathews, museum senior curator of education, said the Southport Quilters Guild, which has 94 pieces on display, has presented members’ works at the museum for several years. But Carolyn Wheeler, guild secretary and Civil War Museum employee, said young people do show interest.
