Quemado Quilters Put On An Exhibition (Small Town Papers News Service)(quilting patterns)
Lorenzo Mora and quilt show host Eunice Cox at the quilt show in Quemado. Catron County quilters displayed their handiwork at the Quilt Show at the Quemado Senior Center on September 29. Host Eunice Cox exhibited 10 quilts in the show, including her first quilt, “Music and Lace,” which has been previously displayed at the Governor’s Palace in Santa Fe. A gentleman from Datil displayed his “Counterpane” quilt, one his mother, grandmother and possibly an aunt made originally. The youngest quilter, a young boy who started learning the art at the Quemado Senior Center about three years ago, displayed all the quilts he has done to date a “9 Patch” pillow, a Navajo Star wall hanging and other items all done entirely by hand. read more
