Friday marked Lou Royal’s 44th year selling her homemade fudge, potato and strawberry candy at the annual Appalachian Festival Arts & Crafts Fair — itself in its 45th year. This is our fifth year at this particular fair, and we love coming back here because I was born and raised in Beckley. Held in conjunction with the fair for the 36th year, the Appalachian Treasures Quilt Show has quilts on display and features ongoing demonstrations of different phases of quilting.
