quilting patterns - Quilting legacy inspires new shop (Springfield News-Sun)

ENON — The memory of Cynthia Faccenda’s grandmother lingers among 6,000 square feet of brightly colored quilt fabrics — designs and patterns her grammy taught her to love when she was just a tot. Faccenda’s new shop, Appalachian Quilts, is a dream realized for Faccenda, who has been quilting when she was 3 years old. The shop is named for the Appalachian region of West Virginia, where Faccenda’s family is from and where her grandmother used to piece quilts together from cut-up aprons and feed sacks. In addition to quilts for sale, the shop offers custom long-arm service, supplies, classes for beginners and experts, quilting clubs and online instruction at quiltweb. The store’s spacious layout allows classes to meet in the shop, an aspect that Anna Willis of the Loose Threads Quilting Club loves. read more
